Catch Up!!!

So it's been a looooooooong time since I've actually written in this blog and I wouldn't be surprised if no one checks it, so I feel okay with writing whatever I feel like! Ha ha ha! So it's been a long 8 months and Ive done and learned a lot, bla bla bla. Now to the present. I'm starting a new semester of school and I love that all my classes have been interrelated, not intentionally, but it seems topics tend to overlap all the time, which I love! It gives me chills inside when we're talking about how rreligousity could be related to genes in my Psych class, and then it comes up in my drawing class! Two completely random classes. I'm really excited about my classes, and enjoy the wonderful debates and questions that are entering my mind. I'm taking a drawing class from Wulf Barsch who is a art professor at BYU and well known artist. He is one of the most fascinating people I have met, and I love that he opens minds up to ask questions and gain a desire for knowledge. He's one of those people that seem to know everything about everything, and likes to push people's buttons, but despite that you can see he has a good heart. Every class he starts out with, "Do you have any questions?" and if we don't he seems so disappointed, until we finally open up and ask a simple question, like how do you draw a circle, and then he'll go off on the symbolism behind the circle that it's sybolic of heaven, and that it has the color of blue, a square is red, by the way, and symbolic of earth, then if you combine them together it's symbolic of heaven and earth meeting, and then there's the triangle which is man reaching to god, flipped it's god reaching to man, combined- the star of david, oh and did I mention it's color is yellow, and if you didn't notice those are the 3 primary colors, and oh I don't want to forget that all values have a color, because they show a different wavelength which is what color really is, and we interpret those waves as color through the process of rods and cones in the eye, and the television desensitizes our eyes and how we see color, so because of TV, and computer screens some people can't even see certain colors anymore, so because Rembrandt used such a low key color triad, lots of people can no longer see his paintings and did you know that the old masters like Rembrandt used circles symbolically in their art and in order to pass the test to become a master all you have to do is draw a perfect circle, and then he'll ask, so how do you think you draw a circle? Wow! Can you see why this guy is so fascinating!!! He's like a walking text book! I don't know if all the things he tells us are true, but it definitely helps to stimulate questions. So today he mentioned that he's planning a trip to New York, with some of his Grad students to see some of the art being produced there, but he said the real reason is to go to Le Maison de Chocolat (the house of Chocolate)! :) He opened it up to our class as well, so I think I'm going to go, can you imagine how fascinating that will be! This class is 3 hrs twice a week, and I think he talks through most of it, which would annoy me, except I almost feel like his wealth of knowledge is more important than if he demonstrated and we just drew the whole time! So i'm excited for this adventure, and I'm sure I'll learn a ton, and maybe more than I want to! :)

On another note, I bought some new ballroom shoes today!!! Yay, I'm so excited, I got them way on sell, cause this company made a deal with BYU, so we got and extra 50% off! I love dancing, and even though I'm not at a competitive level, I plan on continuing throughout my life, I love feeling like a princess as I dance the waltz!
