The Graduation!

So I graduated!! Well, I walked, anyway, I acually won't be completely done until August, because of my internship in Seattle this Summer, but I was very excited to be almost done! This was the first picture taken of me after Convocation, where I officially walked!
This is the traditional Svedi intellectual pose, we are all trying to look smart, and Scott's doing the thinking pose. :) I love my family. This started when Shara graduated and she and Shaina took a picture like this. Scott said, Shara looked like an intellectual, and Shaina looked like a model, modeling being smart! :)
This is my amazing family, minus Steve and Rachel, they couldn't make it, and Craig who took the picture.
Us again, being rediculous.

Here's me and Shara and Craig. They just moved to North Carolina. So far away! :(
Me and my amazing sisters!
Me in my cap n' gown, with my amazing diploma cover! :) I get the official diploma in August!

Graduation!

So, I'm Graduating! I will be a graduate from Brigham Young University! I am so excited, and a little scared to finally be done with college! Let me just say that there have been times when I doubted this day would come, but in two days I will be walking, and I can't wait! It's weird that now I'll have to start my life as an "adult"! Up until this point I have been dreading that, but now that it's come I actually feel okay about it and even a little excited. So for the sake of being narcissistic, Congrats to me! :)

Bookbinding Revisited

So here are some more of the books that I made. I'm really excited about this one, it's made of calf hide, and still has the fur, It was pretty tricky getting the fur to lie flat, but it turned out pretty neat. I gave it to my wonderful father for Christmas so he can write up all the adventures of his life. It's very manly! This second image is the back, I loved the beautiful creme and brown colors.

I also rebound my brother Scott's scriptures, they turned out pretty nice, and it was a lot of fun. I found this neat tool where I can heat up the leather and almost burning it, so I wrote his name on it. His friends called them his Jesus scriptures, they were jealous!

And this is Craig's new Titanic notebook, so he can write up all the cool things he reads about it!

Anyway, I was really excited about working with leather, and loved this distressed natural look.

Happy Easter Cadbury Bunny Style!

So this Easter was great! I got to watch conference and listen to the wonderful prophets voice, and eat a delicious meal with Shara and Craig! Yum, it was good! Then Craig gets a craving for Cadbury Eggs and is reminded of this childhood commercial.

Craig laughed so hard at the Lion that I couldn't even hear the cat! That made it all the funnier, I think we all laughed for 20 minutes straight! I'm glad that I have my family here and we can laugh at silly commercials! I love my family, they're hilarious!

PS. I showed it to some friends later, and they thought I was crazy, apparently it's not that funny! I guess I'm just easy to please. If that's the case, I'm okay with that! :)

Books, Book, and More Books!

So, since the name of this blog is Artistic Interpretations I figured that it is time that i actually post some of my artwork! I have been meaning to do this for a while, but time has not permitted, plus it's quite intimidating putting your work up on the internet! But I realized that no one looks at my blog anyway except for Shara and Mom! SO why not! So from now on I will be putting the name of this blog to use! First I want to say that I LOVE bookbinding! It's so fun to make books and be creative with the covers, I'm so excited about it, and there's tons of stuff that I want o experiment with! So first off, here are some of the books I have made over the course of this semester.

FYI: This leather book isn't done, this is just the cover.

This was my second book I made, the cover is ceder, and it smells so good!
This is a paper case book, with a ceramic button and hand stitching. I had a lot of fun with this one!
The following two books are rebound Books of Mormon, so fun! I bought the mini ones, and they turned out really nice.
Also this blue book has applique flowers on it, I got really excited about using those, it turned out really cute.

This book is a coptic binding, and it's the first book I've ever made! I love the cranes, and the paper has gold specks on it!

This book has cork paper for the cover, pretty neat, and a nice feeling to it. And this is another rebound mini Book of Mormon.
This is a clamshell box I made for a flat back dos e do book I made, you'll see what that is in the next picture.
Ta da! It's three books combined into one! And this book is going to be in a BYU art show this winter semester, it will be displayed in the library.
This was one I really like, I loved the tree paper and the ceramic button. So cute!

Anyway, that's some of what I've been making, I'm going to make a calfskin book next with the fur and everything, it will be really neat! I also bought some glitter paper!! That will be fun to experiment with! Well, as you see I've been having a lot of fun, and am going to keep on making these books! More posts to come, maybe next I'll put some drawings and paintings up!
